Mohamed Taha

Independent Board Member

Taha graduated from Tuscaloosa high school, USA in 1973, and from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management in 1978.

 

After receiving his education, he started his career as Petroleum Service Manager at Mosafco International Trading Company in the United States of America from 1978 to 1983. As Egypt was looking forward to improving investments and economy, he decided to shift his interest to the world of banking. He worked for Islamic International Bank for Investment and Development (IIBID) from 1983 till 1988, and was promoted to Assistant Chief Dealer. Taha later worked as Executive Vice President & Treasury Group Head at Egyptian American Bank (EAB) from 1988 to 2006. Then he joined Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) as First Vice President & Treasury Head from 2006 to 2009.

 

With over 25 years of experience in joint-venture banks Taha became one of the first-class treasurers in Egypt and was assigned to be Vice Chairman & Board Member at Banque Du Caire – one of the oldest and largest state banks in Egypt founded in 1952- from 2009 till mid of 2015.

 

Taha was an active board member in Egyptian Dealers Association (ACI), Nile Holding Company for Development & Investment, Egyptian Railway Projects & Transport Company, as well as other business non-profit boards. Moreover, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Steering Committee setting the foundation of Cairo Inter Bank Offer Rate (CAIBOR) by the Federation of Egyptian Banks (FEB) and a member of the committee setting the primary dealers policies and procedures with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA).
